These fused glass panels are made especially to hang at a window, or in the conservatory or even on the wall.
They are made by cutting individual pieces of coloured glass, both transparent and opaque, and laying them on a base layer of glass.
Thin fine strings of coloured glass are melted and bent over a candle to create lines and patterns, and wafer thin layers of coloured glass are used to give the image depth and shadow.
My aim is to use the glass in a painterly way.
The panel is fired and annealed for over 12 hours.
Copper wire hooks are embedded between two layers of glass before firing, so the glass melts around them.
These highly individual textured pieces are then ready to hang in the window....and the light does the rest!
They usually measure about 9" by 3" or 6" by 6" and cost £30.00 + p.p. However, they can be made in various sizes.
Commissions are very welcome.
Please call me or fill in the form at the end if you are interested in discussing an order.
Fused glass panels can also be used in architectural settings, for example as feature tiles, splashbacks, door and window panels.
Just about any design format can be accommodated with this versatile technique.
Abstract, figurative, simple, complex.
Stark clean lines, soft blurry finishes.
All you need is a little imagination.
I use Bullseye Glass which comes in a wonderful and wide range of colours, both transparent and opaque. New colours and shades can be created by overlaying different tints and hues.
What you get is a magical blend of colour and light.
